Introduction
Kannappa will be released on 25 June 2025 with multiple dubbed languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada Malayalam Hindi and English. On June 27, the much-anticipated mythological epic “Kannappa”, starring ManchuVishnu as the main character and produced by 24 Frames Factory finally made its way to the big screen. The film is directed by Mukesh Singh, of the Mahabharat TV Series fame. It boasts an impressive star cast, huge budget and high expectations.
A Star-Studded Ensemble: Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal & More
In the film, you’ll see some of India’s biggest stars, including Prabhas and Akshay Kumar. Also, there are Mohan Babu, Mohanlal Kajal Aggarwal Aishwarya Rajesh Sharath Kumar Brahmanandam Mukesh Rishi Yogi Babu and Madhoo. Vishnu’s daughters and Manchuavram will also be playing special roles.
Made with a Rs300 Crore Budget
Kannappa, a Telugu film produced on a budget of Rs300 crores, is one of the biggest projects in the Telugu industry. The film was shot in New Zealand with extensive VFX, and high production value.
Akshay Kumar Charged Rs 6 Crore for his role
Akshay Kumar makes his Telugu debut in the role of Shiva. Akshay, who is known for charging premiums for all of his films received Rs6 crore reportedly for his performance.
Prabhas & Mohanlal acted without Remuneration
It is interesting to note that two of India’s biggest stars, Prabhas, and Mohanlal chose not accept any payment for their respective roles. Prabhas, who had over 30 minutes on screen, worked for free to show his close relationship with the team. Mohanlal also didn’t receive any compensation for a single day of shooting.
Appearances by Guests Come at a Cost
Some stars were compensated handsomely, while others waived their fees. Kajal Aggarwal and Brahmanandam who appeared in cameo roles are said to have each received Rs 1 crore.
Tamil actress Priya Mukundan plays a key role
The film will feature the Tamil actress Priya Mukudan in a key role. Although her role is still under wraps, it’s expected that she will play a crucial part in the storyline.

Kannappa Box Office Total First 7 day Collection
The film had a strong opening with Rs 9.25 crores on Day 1, and continued to maintain a decent pace over the weekend. The film’s box office collections dropped steadily through the week, eventually settling at just Rs 1.25 crore by Day 7. The total collection for the first week was Rs 1.25 crore.
The mythological drama managed to have a respectable debut week despite the slowdown.
