Plot Overview
Set in the 1990s’ final years, Sorgavaasal is a story about Parthiban who is played by RJ Balaji as a normal person whose life is taken on a tragic twist after he’s wrongly charged killing the body of an IAS officer. When he is thrown into a corrupt as well as violent system of prison Parthiban is confronted with the gruelling reality of being imprisoned. In the confines of prison Parthiban is confronted by a variety of prisoners, including notorious Gangster Sigamani “Siga” (played by Selvaraghavan) and the newly-formed Kendrick who has taken up spirituality. The story delves into the issue of whether prisons aid in rehabilitation or perpetuate an unending cycle of criminality?
